About the role
Ethoca, a Mastercard company, is a global collaboration-based technology services provider that connects card issuers and merchants to combat fraud, enhance customer experience, and prevent disputes. The Senior Software Engineer joins a highly agile, cross-functional development team building and delivering innovative products at scale to global markets. The role owns delivery tasks across the full SDLC (design, development, testing, deployment, configuration, documentation) while driving test automation frameworks, shift-left quality practices, engineering standards, and mentoring within Ethoca's product suite.
What you will do
- Participate in team prioritisation discussions with Product/Business stakeholders.
- Estimate and own delivery tasks (dev, test, deployment, configuration, documentation) to meet the business requirements.
- Drive code/design/process trade-off discussions within their team when required.
- Report status and manage risks within their primary application/service.
- Drive integration of services focusing on customer journey and experience
- Perform demos/acceptance discussions in interacting with Product owners.
- Understands operational and engineering experience and actively works to improve experience and metrics in the ownership area.
- Develop a complete understanding of end-to-end technical architecture and dependency systems.
- Drive adoption of technology standards and opinionated frameworks, and review coding, test, and automation work of team members
- Mentor and guide new and less-experienced team members.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable automated validation frameworks.
- Review test architecture, automation code, and quality solutions.
- Drive shift-left quality practices.
- Participate in design reviews and provide quality-focused recommendations during architecture discussions.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering with exposure to entire SDLC.
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript.
- Experience building automation frameworks from the ground up.
- Strong experience with:
- REST APIs
- Microservices
- Event-driven architectures
- Distributed systems
- Cloud-native applications
- Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or equivalent.
- Experience with automation tools such as:
- Selenium
- Playwright
- Cypress
- Rest Assured
- Postman
- Good understanding of Data build tool (DBT) testing to ensure data quality, reliability, and accuracy across data engineering pipelines.
- Strong experience with SQL and data analysis and validation.
- Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps practices.
