About the role
Customer Technology: Omni Services owns several areas of Store Services in Digital Retail such as Wireless, BPO, SIM and ACC, responsible for architecture, design and delivery of programs for Walmart US markets. The ecosystem spans backend technologies hosted on premises and in the cloud plus applications across Web, Android and iOS, using Core Java technologies and Azure Cloud Technology. As a Staff Engineer, the role is a senior technical leader who translates complex business problems into scalable technical solutions, leads architecture and hands-on delivery end-to-end, and advances AI-native engineering with modern AI capabilities and developer tools.
What you will do
- Embed directly with Walmart business teams and customers to understand their workflows, uncover high-value problems, and turn ambiguity into clear technical plans.
- Own complex initiatives end-to-end, from discovery and rapid prototyping through production deployment, adoption, and continuous improvement.
- Stay hands-on across design, development, testing, deployment, and production support, delivering reliable solutions at Walmart scale.
- Build and productionize AI-native solutions (LLMs, agentic workflows, RAG, semantic search) with rigorous evaluation, security, governance, and observability.
- Identify patterns across engagements and turn them into reusable architectures, components, and standards that let other teams move faster.
- Serve as the voice of the customer to Product, Platform, and Engineering, shaping roadmaps based on what you learn in the field.
- Lead technically without direct authority: drive architecture decisions, raise engineering quality, and mentor engineers across teams and geographies.
- Connect every engagement to measurable customer and business outcomes, balancing speed, quality, cost, and long-term sustainability
