About the role
The organization owns the technology portfolio connecting demand intelligence, inventory positioning, and product flow across Walmart International, through SMART Forecasting, GeoDemand, Placements, IO2, and O3. Its purpose is to build an intelligent, scalable, and connected replenishment ecosystem by bringing together software engineering, data, machine learning, forecasting, and optimization to improve product availability and inventory productivity. This director role leads engineering strategy, architecture, and execution for that portfolio, working with Product, Data Science, Supply Chain Operations, and market teams.
What you will do
- Lead the engineering strategy and execution for the IO2, O3, GeoDemand, Placements, and SMART Forecasting portfolio, connecting demand intelligence, inventory positioning, and product flow.
- Define and drive the technical vision, architecture, and modernization strategy for highly scalable, business-critical platforms.
- Build a more integrated replenishment ecosystem, ensuring forecasting, geographic demand, placement, and flow capabilities work together to deliver end-to-end outcomes.
- Partner closely with Product, Data Science, Supply Chain Operations, Architecture, and market teams to translate business priorities into scalable technology solutions.
- Lead the engineering of data-, machine learning-, forecasting-, and optimization-driven capabilities that improve how inventory decisions are made.
- Drive engineering excellence and operational health, including reliability, scalability, observability, security, automation, performance, and production readiness.
- Establish strong technical standards and architecture guardrails while enabling teams to move quickly and make effective engineering decisions.
- Manage complex cross-platform and cross-organizational dependencies, proactively removing barriers and aligning teams around shared outcomes.
- Lead technology modernization and simplification, reducing technical debt and creating platforms that can be more easily adopted and scaled across international markets.
- Own execution against the portfolio roadmap, improving delivery predictability, quality, and accountability across teams.
- Lead through engineering managers and senior technical leaders, creating clear accountability while empowering teams to own solutions and outcomes.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain strong engineering talent, while building a healthy leadership pipeline and opportunities for technical career growth.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, experimentation, and responsible adoption of AI and emerging technologies.
- Communicate technology strategy, investment needs, risks, trade-offs, and outcomes clearly to senior business and technology leaders.
- Maintain a strong connection between technology investments and measurable outcomes such as product availability, inventory productivity, flow stability, and supply-chain efficiency.
