About the role
Intel's Software division focuses on foundational software development, enabling Intel hardware features and enhancing user experiences across diverse platforms. The role involves designing and optimizing operating systems for seamless integration with cutting-edge hardware. As an OS Development Engineer you will craft device drivers, hardware abstraction layers, OS services and user space software subsystems, driving performance, power management and reliability.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain operating system components, including device drivers, hardware abstraction layers and OS services.
- Optimize software subsystems for performance, power management, and reliability.
- Knowledge on Android runtime and compilers.
- Exposure to Android tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software features with Intel's silicon architecture.
- Identify and resolve software challenges related to operating system internals and platform features
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 4+ years of experience in OS development OR a Master's degree in relevant field with 3+ years of experience.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, scripting.
- Hands-on experience in operating system internals, hardware abstraction layers, or driver development.
- Strong knowledge of software architecture, design principles, and optimization techniques.
Preferred qualifications
- Familiarity with technologies like virtualization, containerization, and networking protocols.
- Experience with graphics/media user space components.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Passion for driving innovative solutions and optimizing software performance.
