About the role
The team builds and operates a full-stack web application with a Node.js server, TypeScript services, and a React.js client, connected to on-premises Linux lab environments where a Python-based layer orchestrates and controls FPGA hardware. Alongside a mature, complex internal Azure subscription running Kubernetes, relational and NoSQL data stores, caching, storage and Azure Data Explorer telemetry, the team is standing up a new external customer-facing Azure subscription with security, network architecture and compliance as foundations. This role owns CI/CD pipelines and developer support, AI-driven automation and self-healing operations, internal Azure platform and hybrid cloud-to-lab infrastructure, and hardening of the external cloud with network and cybersecurity teams.
What you will do
- Design, maintain, and continuously improve pipelines covering the full delivery lifecycle for our Node.js, TypeScript, and React codebase. When something breaks in a pipeline or a release goes sideways, the development team will come to you, and you will be the person who unblocks them calmly and effectively. Beyond day-to-day support, you will raise the quality bar by embedding good practices into the workflow: automated testing, regression coverage, reproducible builds, and documentation that people actually use.
- We want a platform that monitors itself, detects problems, and recovers on its own wherever possible. When it cannot, it should tell us clearly and give us what we need to act fast. We want you to use AI tools actively and creatively to get there, whether that means intelligent alerting, automated remediation, generated runbooks, or things we have not thought of yet. Every repeated manual task is a candidate for automation.
- Own the day-to-day health and long-term evolution of our internal Azure environment: Kubernetes workloads, data services, storage, networking, and identity systems. Maintain the bridge between cloud and lab, keeping our Linux hosts and hardware systems connected and operational as the platform grows.
- Work closely with our network and cybersecurity teams to design and harden the external subscription before customers ever touch it. Zero-trust access, network segmentation, secrets management, private endpoints, and audit logging need to be built in from the start. We need someone who thinks about security architecturally, not just operationally.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Azure DevOps and cloud infrastructure, including ownership of production environments.
- Azure DevOps and CI/CD: Strong experience with YAML pipelines, Repos, Artifacts, self-hosted build agents, Git workflows, and release management, including deployment across development, test, and production environments, versioning, and rollback.
- Kubernetes and AKS: Practical experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting production workloads using Docker and Helm, including configuration, networking, storage, scaling, and upgrades.
- Azure infrastructure and networking: Experience managing compute, storage, virtual networks, DNS, firewalls, and connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments.
- Infrastructure as Code: Experience creating repeatable infrastructure deployments using Terraform, Bicep, or equivalent tools.
- Linux administration: Strong troubleshooting skills across services, processes, permissions, networking, storage, and shared file systems such as NFS.
- Scripting and automation: Ability to write maintainable automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages to reduce manual work and improve reliability.
- Application delivery: Experience building CI/CD pipelines for JavaScript and TypeScript applications, particularly React frontends, Node.js backends, and containerized microservices.
- Identity and cloud security: Practical understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, authentication and authorization, role-based access control, service and workload identities, secrets and certificate management, least privilege, and network isolation.
- Database operations: Working knowledge of relational databases, particularly Microsoft SQL Server, and familiarity with NoSQL systems. Ability to manage deployment, connectivity, access permissions, monitoring, backup and recovery, and operational troubleshooting.
- Monitoring and incident resolution: Experience with centralized logs, metrics, dashboards, and alerts using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or equivalent tools, with the ability to investigate failures across applications and infrastructure.
- Technical ownership and collaboration: Ability to drive infrastructure improvements from design through production, document decisions, and work effectively with developers, IT, and security teams.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience securing and operating customer-facing or external-user cloud environments.
- Experience with hybrid platforms connecting cloud services to physical hardware, lab systems, or FPGA environments.
- Experience managing both Linux and Windows build agents and their dependencies.
- Practical use of AI-assisted engineering or AIOps tools for automation, troubleshooting, incident analysis, or operational improvement.
Benefits and support
- Hybrid work model allowing employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site
