About the role
The team develops Virtual Test Cards (VTC) and validation solutions used across Intel's product development lifecycle, building Simics-based virtual models and software tools that emulate physical test cards and validation hardware for HSLE, PV, and other validation environments. These solutions validate complex hardware and software interactions in pre-silicon and post-silicon environments, enabling early feature development, platform bring-up, debugging, and verification. The role involves designing, developing, validating, and debugging these virtual models and tools while working closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineers on next-generation platform development.
What you will do
- We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join the development of Virtual Test Cards (VTC) and validation solutions used across Intel's product development lifecycle.
- The role focuses on the design, development, validation, and debugging of Simics-based virtual models and software tools that emulate physical test cards and validation hardware integrated into HSLE, PV, and other validation environments.
- These solutions are used to validate and test complex hardware and software interactions in both pre-silicon and post-silicon environments, enabling early feature development, system integration, platform bring-up, debugging, and verification.
- They play a critical role in improving product quality and reducing time-to-market by providing scalable validation capabilities before and after silicon availability.
- As part of the team, you will work closely with hardware, firmware, and software engineers to develop innovative validation tools and infrastructure, enhance simulation and automation capabilities, and support next-generation platform development from architecture definition through product deployment.
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent technical field with 2 to 6 years of experience.
- Strong software development skills in C++ and Python, with experience building and maintaining complex software systems.
- Experience in embedded software/firmware development, including low-level programming, debugging, and hardware-software interaction.
- Solid understanding of the PCI Express (PCIe) protocol, including architecture, configuration space, enumeration, and data flow.
- Hands-on experience with Simics, simulation environments, virtual platforms, or system-level modeling.
- Experience with debugging complex system-level issues across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries.
- Familiarity with modern software development methodologies, version control systems, and automated testing frameworks.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar solutions to improve software development productivity, code quality, and engineering efficiency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Benefits and support
- Compensation and benefits are detailed in the job posting
