About the role
Yahoo's Enterprise IT team, specifically the IT - Productivity, Support, and Shared Engineering group, builds enterprise-grade software solutions that integrate AI and cloud technologies to streamline business processes and boost employee productivity. This senior role leads the design and implementation of scalable AI-enabled solutions, including RAG patterns and AI-enabled workflows on AWS or GCP, while mentoring junior engineers and setting technical direction with cross-functional partners.
What you will do
- Design, architect, and deliver scalable AI-enabled software solutions that address complex business challenges.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers across different time zones to understand requirements and develop technical solutions.
- Lead technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers across the team.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies and frameworks, including generative AI and large language models.
- Architect RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) patterns and AI-enabled workflows that replace manual data processing with automated, intelligent systems.
- Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures using AWS or GCP services to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to define requirements, set technical direction, and deliver impactful solutions.
- Continuously monitor industry trends in AI productivity and quickly translate innovations into actionable solutions for employees.

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience for full stack development, DevOps, and AI/ML development, including recent experience in a senior developer role.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Golang or TypeScript.
- Experience integrating AI/ML technologies and services (e.g., LLMs, natural language processing, machine learning APIs).
- Expertise in structured interaction with AI tools (prompt engineering) and the ability to exercise judgment in AI-augmented vs. manual development approaches.

- Strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, and security best practices.

- Capable of leading in a collaborative environment involving developing solutions, presenting those solutions for review by peers, and training co-workers on the solutions.
- Team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently.
- Background in leading agile development teams and delivering high-impact software solutions at scale.
