About the role
Tesla is hiring a Supply Chain Manager to partner with engineering teams and manufacturing suppliers on the industrialization and ongoing management of reliable, cost-effective direct material supply chains for vehicle production, energy products, and battery systems, with a primary focus on wire harnesses and connectors. Reporting to the Supply Chain Group Manager, the role supports Engineering and Global Supply Management teams. The position drives supplier relationships, negotiations, NPI launch readiness, cost savings, and material shortage resolution while requiring travel to suppliers across regions.
What you will do
- Maintain clear visibility into component supply and collaborate with Global Supply Managers and Supplier Industrialization Engineers to address supplier performance and delivery challenges
- Establish and oversee supplier relationships at both management and operational levels, including performance management and dispute resolution
- Drive continuous improvement in supplier scalability, cost, and quality while providing leadership during New Product Introduction
- Bridge technical requirements by facilitating clear communication between suppliers and Tesla’s Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams
- Own the development, tracking, and enhancement of supplier manufacturing processes and launch readiness for new products and design changes
- Take a leading role in resolving material shortages or allocation issues that impact regional operations
- Lead regional supply change-management efforts, coordinating across Global Supply Management, Engineering, and Production; managing supplier negotiations; and ensuring successful material launches
- Assess supplier business proposals and deliver recommendations that achieve cost savings, cost avoidance, or cost containment
- Partner with Global Supply Managers, Supply Chain Group Managers, Supplier Industrialization Engineers, and other global supply-chain colleagues to evaluate suppliers, support final selection decisions, and contribute to value analysis
- Lead negotiations on piece price and product development to secure best-landed-cost outcomes while meeting Supplier Industrialization standards for best-in-class quality
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 7+ years of experience managing wire harness commodities
- Proven experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, specifically with electronics and electromechanical components, connector assemblies, and wire harness assembly in a manufacturing or technology environment
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and thrive in a high-speed environment
- Strong program management, written, and verbal communication skills
- Automotive or electronics industry experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Willingness to travel as needed
