About the role
Autodesk's Platform Services and Emerging Technologies team builds cloud services and web client components that power Autodesk SaaS applications in manufacturing, architecture, engineering and construction, and media and entertainment, with a focus on flexible data management capabilities. The role is based in Pune and reports to the Manager of Software Development. This engineer will build core components and services across the full software development lifecycle, including Java/AWS development, Terraform infrastructure as code, automated testing, and on-call monitoring of large-scale production applications.
What you will do
- Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, estimation, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
- Design, develop, troubleshoot, and maintain high-quality software solutions while building comprehensive automated test coverage
- Partner with product owners, software architects and other software engineers to iteratively turn high-level requirements into product enhancements that are delivered to customers incrementally
- Continuously improve engineering processes, development practices, and team productivity to better address customer and business needs
- Monitor large-scale production applications and perform log analysis, debugging and maintenance via on-call support rotations
- Leverage AI-assisted development practices, including Spec-Driven Development, code generation, automated reviews, and developer productivity tools to accelerate software delivery while maintaining quality standards
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2 - 4+ years of production-level hands-on Java development experience (ideally with Java 8+)
- Hands-on experience with AWS (or other cloud provider's) technologies such as ECS, SQS, S3, Elasticache, IAM, and Lambda
- Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs
- Familiarity with AI-powered productivity tools and a willingness to adopt new technologies that enhance efficiency and collaboration
- Experience using Terraform to build infrastructure as code
- Experience building scalable systems and services in the cloud, within Microservice and/or Serverless architectures
- Team-player, with a result-focused passion to deliver solutions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- You embrace perpetual learning and are always ready for a new challenge
- Not only are you comfortable presenting demos of working software, but also addressing questions about progress
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with Scala
- Experience in building, running and monitoring SaaS applications at large scale
- Experience with multi-repo GIT code bases, RESTful web services, testing frameworks such as Blazemeter, shell scripts, automated CI/CD pipelines
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools to streamline workflows, automate routine tasks, generate insights, or improve the quality and efficiency of work.
