About the role
Autodesk builds software used across design and manufacturing as well as architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), helping customers create everything from buildings and cars to factories and films. The Expansion Account Executive role sits within these industries and is responsible for driving new business and renewals within strategic enterprise accounts. The role carries a sales quota and involves developing strategic account growth plans, building executive relationships, and leading complex multi-stakeholder sales cycles through upselling, add-on sales, cross-selling, and account expansion.
What you will do
- Develop and execute strategic, outcome-led account plans for assigned large enterprise accounts
- Identify expansion opportunities across business units, projects, geographies, workflows, and user groups
- Build trusted relationships with executive sponsors, business leaders, technology teams, procurement stakeholders, and operational leaders
- Understand customer priorities and translate them into compelling business cases and value propositions
- Lead complex sales cycles from opportunity development through negotiation and commercial closure
- Drive broader adoption of Autodesk's portfolio, including cloud, platform, and industry solutions
- Coordinate Sales, Technical Sales, Customer Success, Industry, Marketing, and Channel resources around a unified account strategy
- Partner closely with Channel Partners and system integrators to strengthen customer engagement and accelerate business growth
- Maintain a strong and qualified pipeline while providing accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales forecasts
- Position Autodesk as a long-term strategic partner by demonstrating measurable business value
- Apply sound commercial judgment to navigate complex customer requirements and develop innovative solutions
- Leverage deep knowledge of Autodesk products and services to identify and pursue strategic account opportunities
Skills used in this role

- 7–8 years of experience in enterprise sales, including experience selling to large or strategic customers
- Proven Business-to-Business (B2B) sales experience within the Design and Manufacturing or Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industries
- Experience selling Information Technology (IT) solutions that support business transformation
- Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles and strategic accounts
- Strong commercial acumen with a data-driven and outcome-focused approach
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth
- Strong executive communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Ability to work independently while effectively coordinating cross-functional teams and resources
- Demonstrates a successful track record of growing large, complex, and strategically important enterprise accounts
- Uses broad industry and business knowledge to identify customer challenges and develop creative, effective solutions
- Builds trusted relationships with senior executives and serves as a strategic advisor throughout the customer relationship
- Navigates complex sales opportunities by evaluating multiple business, technical, and commercial factors to determine the most effective approach
- Applies deep knowledge of Autodesk products and services to identify opportunities for customer growth and portfolio expansion
- Develops innovative account strategies that drive renewals, adoption, cross-selling, upselling, and long-term revenue growth
- Exercises sound judgment and operates independently while seeking guidance when navigating highly complex or unusual situations
- Influences and coordinates Sales, Technical Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Channel Partners, and other stakeholders around a unified account strategy
- Builds strong networks across customer organizations and develops relationships with stakeholders beyond their immediate area of expertise
- Maintains strong pipeline discipline, forecast accuracy, and accountability for achieving quarterly and annual sales targets
- Demonstrates leadership across high-visibility strategic accounts and supports the success of broader account teams
- Consistently connects customer outcomes with Autodesk solutions to strengthen long-term strategic partnerships
Preferred qualifications
- Experience selling enterprise Software as a Service (SaaS), cloud, platform, or industry solutions
- Experience developing and executing strategic account plans for large enterprise customers
- Experience driving renewals, upselling, cross-selling, and account expansion
- Strong understanding of customer workflows and business challenges within the Design and Manufacturing or Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industries
- Experience collaborating with Channel Partners and system integrators on complex enterprise opportunities
- Experience engaging senior executives and developing business cases that demonstrate measurable customer value
