About the role
The Cisco Wireless Feature & System Engineering team builds end-to-end wireless capabilities across access points, controllers, and cloud-managed platforms, delivering seamless, secure, and high-performance enterprise Wi-Fi. This full development and test role involves building and validating wireless features across the stack, writing C/C++ and Python software, and developing test automation and lab-based validation for enterprise wireless scenarios.
What you will do
- Develop and integrate wireless features across AP, controller, and management layers
- Write and maintain software in C/C++ and scripting languages (Python)
- Design and execute test plans, and develop automation for feature validation
- Analyze logs, packet traces, and system behavior to debug issues
- Reproduce issues and validate fixes across system components
- Set up and use lab environments for testing wireless scenarios
Skills used in this role
What the employer is looking for
- MS + 0-2 years or BS + 1-3 years of experience
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and Wi-Fi (802.11 basics)
- Experience or strong interest in testing, automation, and system validation
- Strong debugging and analytical skills
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to wireless controllers or cloud-managed networking systems
- Experience with tools like Wireshark
- Familiarity with WPA2/WPA3 security
