About the role
The role sits within Bosch's engineering organization focused on developer productivity tooling and enterprise developer platforms. The team builds and maintains advanced Visual Studio Code extensions, IDE plugins, and developer workflows in a cloud-native, TypeScript/Node.js stack. This senior position will design and develop VS Code extensions, integrate them with REST APIs, backend services, and AI services, and own CI/CD automation, Docker containerization, and Kubernetes-based deployments while mentoring junior developers.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Visual Studio Code extensions and plugins.
- Build custom developer productivity tools and workflows within VS Code.
- Develop extension features using TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js.
- Integrate VS Code extensions with REST APIs, backend services, AI services, and developer tools.
- Optimize extension performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Build automated CI/CD pipelines for extension development and deployment.
- Containerize applications using Docker and manage deployments using Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to automate build, release, and deployment processes.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to extensions, debugging, and developer environments.
- Implement unit testing, integration testing, and code quality best practices.
- Work closely with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver enterprise-grade developer tools.
- Document architecture, APIs, and development guidelines.
