India job market report, 4 Nov 2026: IBM is one in five new jobs
1,818 new jobs went up in India this week, 12% more than last. IBM posted a fifth of the ones we could classify, so here's the market with and without it.

IBM posted 320 jobs in India this week. That is about one in five of everything new on Jobsman, and it's worth knowing before you read anything else into the numbers below.
What IBM is hiring for
Most weeks you can read the market off the top of the company list. This week you can't, because one company is doing so much of the posting, so it's worth looking at what the 320 roles actually are.
At least 91 of them have "Cloud FullStack" in the title: 35 application developers, 27 AWS-focused application developers, and 29 "applied AI specialists". Another 37 are data engineers on Databricks, Snowflake and Google platforms. The rest include package consultants for SAP, ServiceNow and Workday, plus a handful of process and delivery roles.
It's also mostly mid-level (265 of the 320) and mostly Bengaluru (205), with Pune, Hyderabad and Kolkata behind. So if you're a mid-level cloud or data engineer in Bengaluru, this was a very good week. If you're anything else, IBM's week tells you very little about yours.
The market without IBM
Take IBM out and you have 1,294 roles from 125 companies, and nobody is dominating. Mahindra Group had 85, Barclays 69, JPMorgan Chase 57, Microsoft 56, Tesla 52, GE Vernova 46, Honeywell 45, Bosch 43 and American Express 40.
By title, software and engineering is the biggest block at 627 roles, about 39% of the week. Data, AI and ML titles are next at 263 (16%), then consulting and delivery at 142, finance and operations at 134, and sales and marketing at 74. Product and design had 27, security 12. About a fifth didn't fit any group.
Titles that explicitly say AI or ML were 136 of the 1,614, or about 8%. Without IBM it's 88, around 7%. Data and AI roles are a real and growing part of the market, but "learn AI" is not the same as "most jobs are AI jobs". Most are still plain software engineering.
Experience: four years is the middle
The typical role this week asked for at least four years of experience. Only 183 roles (11%) were open to people with one year or less. Another 891 (55%) wanted two to five years, and 540 (33%) wanted six or more.
For anyone early in their career that's the honest picture: direct postings are thin, and campus and off-campus drives matter more. For people with two to five years behind them, it's the largest group by a distance. We've written more about this in our look at IT services hiring.
Where, and how
Bengaluru had 757 of the 1,504 roles that name a city, about half. Pune was second with 120, then Hyderabad (102), Gurgaon (89), Mumbai (72), Chennai (56), Kolkata (25) and Noida (18). If you only search Bengaluru you're seeing half the market, and the other half is spread across a lot of smaller piles.
On work model, 60% of roles were onsite and 34% hybrid. Fully remote was 60 roles all week, about 4%. If remote is a hard requirement, set an alert and be patient.
Weekdays do the work
Every weekday added between 230 and 355 jobs. Saturday added 139 and Sunday 98.
A role posted on a Thursday has had a full weekend of applicants before most people look again on Monday. Checking a little every day beats checking a lot once a week.
These counts cover jobs that are still live on Jobsman, so they're a floor, not a full history of everything posted this week. Role types are grouped from job titles, so treat them as a good guide, not an exact split. Browse all open roles or look at the longer-term trends.
